The Answers You Need

FAQs: FAQ

What Syllabus do you follow?

We follow the syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance. The RAD has a long history of standards of excellence in classical ballet and today offers a beautifully designed syllabus for children of all ages and stages of development.

The syllabus is designed to inspire children from a young age, through to professional career in dance, it begins by exploring movement and dance and progress to developing classical technique and artistry.  All grades are set to specially composed music which aids rhythmical development and musical awareness.

Our dancers are encouraged to work towards and take their exam in each grade and will be entered based on the discretion of lynda.  There is no pressure to participate in the exam.

What should I wear

For adult ballet classes please wear comfortable, stretchy, clothing. Preferably a couple of layers for the option of removing a layer as the you move through the warm-up and barre and your muscles become warm.
Shoes: ideally soft ballet shoes. Leather are more hard wearing but satin ballet shoes are suitable fo class too.  For your first couple of lessons socks can be warm for the barre but flexible soled shoes for centre work.
Children’s Syllabus classes: a uniform list will be provided.

Silver Swans, over 55s?

Silver Swans® classes have been specifically designed by the RAD with a focus for the over-55s. However, if you feel that these classes sound right for you then please come along and join in, whatever your age. There is no upper age limit and I work with all abilities in class, that’s the beauty of ballet 🎶
